    With the median list price of $746,300, property values in Biltmore Forest have remained fairly constant over the last few years. Relative to both the nation and the state of North Carolina as a whole, real estate here is highly priced. The median household income is $152,000.

    Twelve percent of the homes are occupied by a single person over the age of 65, and thirty percent of the households include children under the age of 18. The median age is 49. The community is almost exclusively white, and virtually no resident lives below the poverty line.

    Biltmore Forest is located just south of Asheville. The focal point of the community is the Biltmore Forest Country Club.     There are no public schools in this neighborhood; children who live in Biltmore Forest are served by the Buncombe County School District, which has some of the best public schools in the state of North Carolina.

    The local high schools rank third highest in the state for SAT scores, and Buncombe County is one of only 381 school districts in the United States to earn a spot on the Advanced Placement Achievement list for top scores in AP classes. There are also a number of fine private schools, both secular and religious, to choose from in the Asheville metropolitan area.

    The close proximity to Asheville is one of the biggest draws to living in Biltmore Forest. Described by The New York Times as “an Appalachian Shangri-La” and consistently ranked high on lists of the nation’s best cities, the once famous premier health resort attracted famous vistors like F. Scott Fitzgerald and Henry Ford.

    Asheville is now a thriving artist community with a number of museums, galleries, fine restaurants, and historic attractions. Perhaps the most famous attraction is the Biltmore Estate, just named one of the top ten architectural wonders, a 250-room mansion with 8,000 acres of grounds, a winery and the famous Inn at Biltmore Estate.
