    via blog.exploreasheville.com

With a slogan like “Put Some South in Your Mouth”, you know immediately that you are in for some good ol’ home cooking at Biscuit Head. Established in 2013, the restaurant is new to the food scene in Asheville, NC.

The husband and wife team, Jason and Carolyn, are updating traditional southern breakfast foods in a unique way providing its patrons with a dining experience they won’t soon forget. This is a menu and family worth getting to know.

    The Unforgettable Biscuits

What is a light, fluffy, often slathered in dense gravy and a staple at every southern breakfast table? Why biscuit of course! In addition, Biscuit Head is known for them. From local pork sausage gravy to sweet potato coconut gravy, these people have everything you would want to envelop your massive biscuit.

    A Table for Everyone

Just like a traditional southern family, the folks at Biscuit head are inviting everyone to enjoy breakfast or brunch at one their tables. Vegetarians and gluten intolerant individuals can feel right at home with options like seitan “sausage”, an animal’s protein substitute, and gluten-free biscuits.

For those that do want to enjoy traditional southern dishes, they have all the staples each with a bit of an updated twist. There’s a pulled pork biscuit with jalapeno pimento, bacon, egg, and maple syrup; chicken and biscuits with sweet potato butter, sriracha slaw, and over easy egg; and a fried green tomato biscuit with brie, poached eggs, and smoked tomato hollandaise. The tough part is choosing!

Keeping the Community and Environment in Mind

Perhaps the best thing about Biscuit Head (besides the biscuits), is that they are striving to keep their carbon footprint light. By utilizing composting methods and recycling everything they possibly can, Jason and Carolyn are doing their part to take care of the environment and teaching their young son to do the same.

The couple is also giving back to the community by taking part in events such as Manna Food Bank’s Blue Jean Ball and Empty Bowls. This is a place serving up amazing biscuits and tons of love!
