Montford – Asheville, NC
As a neighborhood that is part of the National Register of Historic Places, Montford has many homes that were built between 1890 and 1920. It is a wonderful place to live, with a vibrant community, historic ambiance and abundant things to do.

1. The Montford Music and Arts Festival
An annual event, it happens in the neighborhood and is a one day celebration of music and the arts and is free to visitors.
2. The Montford Farmers Market
It happens every Wednesday behind the Asheville Convention and Visitors Bureau.
3. The Montford Park Players
Free Performances of the plays of Shakespeare are part of the entertainment brought to life by the Players. Winter brings a performance of the beloved “A Christmas Carol” at the Asheville Masonic Temple. Fundraisers for the Montford Park Players include a Masked Ball, so the enjoyment continues even after the performances.
4. The Montford Community Center
Halloween events, yard sales, a gym and activities for kids are part of the center and its benefits to the neighborhood.
Performances at the Hazel B. Robinson Amphitheater, martial arts, yoga, a Hot August Night 5K run, Pawndemonium Chess Tournament, Hoopers Ball, Climbing Wall, Summer Playground Program and other exciting events are all sponsored by the Community Center. Moreover, a lighted ball field and tennis courts add to the recreational fun.
In addition to the happenings in Montford, all the culture and arts of Asheville are just steps away. Famous for its arts district and cultural events, Asheville also has an abundance of outdoor activities, such as hiking and biking, whitewater rafting, and exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The Asheville Municipal Golf Course, one of the oldest in the North Carolina western area, is a Donald Ross design and a championship 18-hole course.
